Helping Us to Fundraise 4 Autism

You're aware that research shows us that autism prevalence increased by 178% between 2000 - 2016. The child autism prevalence ratio is now 1 in 36. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes, and cancer combined. You are touched either firsthand, through a loved one, a neighbor, a friend, or a colleague. There are several ways to help make a difference for individuals touched by autism.

Through monetary donations or by volunteering your time and skills with our events, you can make a significant and lasting impact on our autism school’s mission-critical education, transitional skill building, and therapy support programs.

Get started in three easy steps!

  1. Become a fundraiser. Create your page and set a goal.

  2. Spread the word. Invite your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to donate.

Below is how you can raise funds and awareness for critical autism education, life and transitional skill-building, and advocacy.

Fundraising strategies:

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for support. The worst they can do is say “no,” but if you don’t ask, it’s a guaranteed no. You never know who may have a connection to autism and an interest in contributing.

  • Consider setting up recommended donation levels.

    • For example, $25, $50, $75, $100

    • Suggest an amount for a special occasion. For example, "Donate $40 in honor of my 40th birthday!"

  • Set a fundraising goal and create a roadmap to get there. For example, a $500 fundraising goal could be obtained by:

  1. Asking 20 people to each donate $25.

  2. Raising $250 and asking your company to match your fundraising total.

This is Why We Fundraise.

With a child autism prevalence ratio of 1 in 36, you likely know of an autistic child. Despite this, many do not fully understand autism spectrum disorder or how it can impact and individual’s daily life.

The Independence Academy works diligently to improve quality of life through education, emotion, social, and life skill building.
